The United Nations manual on Technologies for Coastal Erosion Control states:

• “Stepped shapes spread the force of waves (gradual dissipation) and are effective in reducing wave run-up and minimizing scour along the seaward face…”
• “Sloping shapes reduce scour and are the most highly preferred shape for beach resorts…”
• “Vertical shapes are less effective against heavy wave attack… More susceptible to wave overtopping and scour… Should not be used landward of beaches unless the permanent loss of the beach is acceptable…”

SDRS™ uses PerfectPore™ inner fabric which allows water flow through so the SDRS™ is environmentally invisible. 

Both ProTecTube™ and SDRS™ use ProTecShield™ Armoring fabric as an outer layer. ProTecShield™ can be created in colors to match nearly any beach. This means that even when exposed during storm events, it looks natural.
